SUNSET CREEK SITE REPORT CONVENTIONS

ALTERATIONS - The web version of The Sunset Creek Site is corrected for spelling and punctuation. Errors and omissions that crept in between the original manuscript and the printer's production manuscript have also been corrected. Otherwise, the text is the same as in the original publication. Links have been added to interconnect the text and the figures, and which lead to additional materials.
Jay Miller expedited this process by scanning and formatting the text, incorporating corrections from the original errata sheet, and removing many of the OCR artifacts from the text.

ADDITIONS - New material that has been added appears in dark blue and is bounded by dark blue horizontal lines (rules), as in the presentation of this text, now.
These materials include (1) text and illustrations that were removed to shorten the manuscript to make its publication less expensive, (2) additional photographs and artifact scans of materials that occur in the report, and (3) notes on the geological history of the site that were supposed to be folded into an appendix by Roald Fryxell, which was, in the end, not forthcoming.
This material is being added gradually, beginning in January, 2016. Expect such material to be added from time to time over the following two years.

HEADER IMAGES - The header images at the top of this site's web pages are of materials mentioned in the text of the original report or of the site and its environs. They are intended to add visual information to the report. If you pause the cursor over any header, a flag will appear explaining the image. Headers bordered in red can be clicked on to produce more detailed versions or to link to relevant material.

SECTIONS - Each section of the report is presented on a separate page in order to minimize scrolling. They are accessed through the menu on the right.

FOOTNOTES - These appear at the end of each section. Use the footnote marker and the "back" link to navigate to and from footnotes.

PAGINATION - The top and bottom of each section and the beginning of each manuscript page is marked with its page number in brackets. This is to allow easy citation of the original printed report. Viz.: [9/10].

LINKS - DARK RED is used for active links. A DARK red border around an image indicates an active link to an enlarged view or a different perspective. GRAY is used for unimplemented links.

ACTIVE PAGE - BLACK - When you are on a web page, the menu link for that page is deactivated and the menu listing displayed in black.

NO LINK - DARK BLUE is used for menu headings and other elements that do not support active links.

SEPARATERS - Dark blue horizontal lines (rules) have been added to separate categories in Appendix A (Material Culture). Two full rules are used to separate different classes of material culture, such as Stemmed Points from Leaf-Shaped Points. One full rule is used to separate Types within classes. One partial rule is used to separate Type Variants within the same type. These have been added to the web edition because individual types and their variants are difficult to locate within a printed format that repetes itself constantly.

REVISION DATES - The first web material for this project was posted in November, 2014. At the bottom of each web page a LAST REVISED date is provided. This date records the last substantive change to the page. Changes in formatting and spelling are not tracked in this way.
